What affects the price of a laser scan survey

Time on site

What decides the time on site is how many scanner set-ups the job needs. A straight road needs fewer than one with bends and turning heads; an open-plan room fewer than a house of small rooms; an open lawn fewer than a garden full of walls and trees.

What you need back

A pass/fail QC report built from your design is quicker to produce than full drawn plans and elevations. A point cloud on its own is the cheapest deliverable; detailed CAD drawing takes the most office time.

The quality of the information you send

A 3D design surface or a clean DWG with levels goes straight into the comparison. Scanned PDFs mean we build the design first. It's still fine, but it takes longer.

Batching

The biggest saving. Scanning six plots on one visit costs far less per plot than six separate trips, and a road and its plots on the same day share the travel and set-up.

Deadline and access

Most work is booked within a few days. Same-day or out-of-hours scans, and sites with restricted access or escort requirements, can cost more.

How our prices compare

Published UK rates for 3D laser scanning commonly sit around £750–£1,250 per day for a registered point cloud alone, before any drawings or analysis. We price per job instead, with the comparison and report included, so you pay for the answer rather than the hours.

Questions we get asked

How much does 3D laser scanning cost in the UK?

For construction QC, most jobs are priced per visit or per plot. With Dimensure, plot checks start from £85 per plot when four or more are scanned together, a road visit from £495, a single-room measured survey from £325 and a typical garden from £395. Bigger or more detailed jobs cost more; every price is fixed before we book.

Why are your prices fixed rather than a day rate?

Because you need to know the cost before you commit. We ask the questions up front (size, drawings, deliverables, deadline) and give one price. If the job changes on the day, we tell you before doing extra.

Do prices include travel?

Travel is included within 50 miles of Corby, which covers most of the Midlands, including Northampton, Leicester, Coventry, Nottingham, Peterborough, Milton Keynes, Bedford and Cambridge. We work anywhere in the UK; further away, travel is added to the quote and shown separately.

Do you charge VAT?

Our guide prices are shown before VAT. If VAT applies it is added at the standard rate and shown on the quote.

Is it cheaper if we supply our own survey data?

Usually, because there is no site visit, travel or scanning time in the price, only the processing and the report. It is priced per job once we have seen the data, since the area, the data quality and the report you need all change the work. You get a fixed price before we start.
