Cost guide
As-laid survey cost
What it costs to record drainage, chambers and ducts before backfill, per visit or across a whole phase.

Guide price: an as-laid survey costs from £325 per visit of up to four hours on site, including the RTK GNSS survey, photos and an as-laid drawing in DWG and PDF with a CSV of points. Whole phases on a programme of visits are priced on the layout. Before VAT, with travel included within 50 miles of Corby.
| Job | Guide price | What's included |
|---|---|---|
| Single visit (up to 4 hours on site) | from £325 | Survey, photos, as-laid drawing and CSV for what was open |
| Combined with setting out on the same visit | from £550 / day | See setting out cost |
| Whole phase on a programme of visits | quoted | Priced on the drainage and services layout |
| Adoption-format as-built for the phase | quoted | All visits combined into one drawing set |
Guide prices before VAT. Recording is done from the surface; trench support and safe access remain the site's responsibility.
What drives the price
Number of visits
The cost follows how often we need to be on site, which follows how the drainage gang works. Long runs opened and recorded in one go are cheaper than short sections spread over many days, so it's worth planning the recording into the drainage programme.
What the record is for
A record for the site's own files is the standard drawing and CSV. An adoption pack drawn to the authority's format, with every visit combined, takes more office time and is priced when we quote.
Notice
Visits booked a day or two ahead are the standard price. Urgent call-outs at very short notice may cost more, and we'll say so when you call.
How our prices compare
As-laid recording is usually done by a site or setting-out engineer, who in 2026 typically costs around £600 a day with equipment (THS Concepts' setting out guide price, checked October 2026). Our half-day visit includes the drawing and data, so you pay for the record, not just the time.
Included on every visit
- RTK GNSS survey, checked to control
- Crown and cover levels, calculated inverts
- Geotagged photos of each section
- As-laid drawing in DWG and PDF
- CSV of every point
- Fall or position issues flagged same day

Questions we get asked
How much does an as-laid survey cost?
With Dimensure, an as-laid survey costs from £325 per visit of up to four hours on site, including the RTK GNSS survey, geotagged photos and an as-laid drawing in DWG and PDF with a CSV of points. A whole phase recorded on a programme of visits is priced on the drainage layout. Prices are before VAT, with travel included within 50 miles of Corby.
Why price per visit rather than per metre?
Because what takes time is being there when the trench is open, not the length of pipe. A visit can record 200 metres of pipe or a single chamber, depending on what the gang has opened. Pricing per visit keeps it simple and lets you call us out when you need us.
Is it cheaper to have the site engineer do it?
If a site engineer is there full-time with a rover and has the time, possibly. On most housing and civils jobs the engineer is busy setting out, and as-laid records get left until the end and redrawn from the design. That's the record adopting authorities and future contractors end up relying on, and it's often wrong.
What costs extra?
Drawing up a full adoption-format as-built for a whole phase from several visits, combining our records with CCTV survey data, urgent call-outs at very short notice, and sites outside our standard travel area. All are agreed before booking.
